Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite Had Clear Instructions For Its Promotional Material

So, when history looks back at Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite, they’re going to see a lot of mistakes. Ones that still boggle the mind of both player and critic. But what might surprise most people is that the flaws that Marvel had during this games design and development go even further down the rabbit hole than you might expect. How so? Well, what if we told you that Marvel had very specific instructions for the people making its promotional videos? Mainly, that Marvel characters couldn’t be hurt in those videos. It’s true.

This comes from a Twitch user named Tyrant. Tyrant is a specialist in fighting games, but more than that, he was hired by the teams behind Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite to make special promotional videos for the game via him playing the game. And he claims that working with Marvel on it was a “nightmare”.

“They wouldn’t allow us to do the combos on any Marvel character, because they didn’t like the idea of a Capcom character beating up a Marvel character in a promotional video,” said Tyrant during a livestream. “They would only allow any combos to be performed on a Capcom character.”

Furthermore, Marvel apparently imposed their will in regards to what characters should be paired up with who. And if the gameplay people, like Tyrant, had any other suggestions it would have to go through Marvel for approval.

As we noted above, this will be added to the many questionable decisions that Marvel made during the development of this game. Including the fact that they didn’t add any X-Men or Fantastic Four characters in the game because of their “feud” with 21st Century Fox. But also the false statement they gave to try and “hide” that fact where they said that they didn’t add those characters “because players don’t know them.”

Thank you for such a good example of interactive promotion on Twitch! I am not using it as my favourite social media is OnlyFans. I am a marketing manager for a raising basketball team and no matter what everybody is saying, having read successful case studies on https://creatr.uk/case-studies/ I came to the conclusion that these methods will suit me too. You take one pattern and extrapolate it to another.
