The Managing Director over at Massive Entertainment that’s working on the Ubisoft Avatars game is taking a break.
David Polfeldt spent 17 years working at Massive Entertainment. 12 of those were spent as the Managing Director. Yet, today we have some bittersweet news, more bitter than sweet to be completely honest. David is stepping down from his role as Managing Director on July 1st. He’s taking a six-month break and then coming back to Ubisoft to take on a brand new role.
On the post announcing all of this he said:
Standing on the solid foundation of The Division, Avatar, Snowdrop, and Ubisoft Connect, the studio is in fantastic shape, and I am exceptionally grateful for what we have accomplished together. Before I embark on a new adventure in Ubisoft, I will try something else which is new and exciting to me: a long break! Wish me luck, and see you in 2022.”
Massive Entertainment made some of the best Ubisoft titles, and they’re working on the Avatars game. It’s a little concerning to see them replace a Managing Director in the middle of developing new IPs, but David assures us that the studio’s doing great.
Is this a warning sign? Or just a mere coincidence? What do you think?
