Square Enix are the true masters of RPGs, but, they’re also incredibly clever, they know that there are many different kinds of RPGs, and thus they’ve set out to make many different kinds over the years. When they felt they couldn’t do that all on their own, they made Tokyo RPG Factory, a group of RPG makers dedicated to making the next great RPG titles. Their first title was the hit game I Am Setsuna. And now, they’ve released their second title, Lost Sphear.
Lost Sphear takes place in a world that is literally being erased, one memory at a time. You play as a young man named Kanata, who finds himself waking up to the world that is disappearing all around him, and though he doesn’t know why, he’s the only one who can repair the memory damage and save the world.
But to do that, he’ll need help, and his friends, and various others he meets along the way are the ones who will help with that.
The world of Lost Sphear is very interesting and unique, for there will sometimes be massive areas of the map that you can’t get to until you find the memory that restores them. That makes ever quest for a memory count, as it helps you explore the world in many ways.
Combat wise, Lost Sphear embraces the turn-based systems of old, but, does some interesting twists with them. One of them is the Vulcosuits, massive suits of armor that your player characters can use to enhance their abilities, rush enemies, and take full control of the battlefield.
Plus, as this is an RPG, you can expect a very deep story and epic music to play as you go along your journey.
So, if you believe in the power of memories, go and check out Lost Sphear.
