City builder fans, have you heard about Surviving Mars? It’s a beautiful city builder, and as you can tell from its name, it’s set on Mars. Reviews for it have been mixed, and the biggest complaint so far for the game is that it is severely lacking in content, but that will hopefully get fixed in the future. Now, we will be talking about the game’s latest patch for the GoG version.
We will only be going over some of the changes as there too many of them to cover in one post.
Let’s start things off with the Windows problem where white borders appeared on certain UI elements. More UI problems that were fixed include things like the Custom anomaly icon disappearing randomly. The Martian University infopanel will not show certain colonists like children, seniors, tourists, and so on, which are not a part of the workforce, and lastly, the rockets are going to have their proper skin on when the game starts.
As far as the gameplay fixes go, a lot of things needed fixing. For example, you won’t have to pay a fortune anymore if you want to purchase the Explorer Rover, which had its price reduced. Players will no longer be able to endlessly export with the Space Elevator. The “Earthsick” condition can no longer plague your refugees, as they are now immune to it. The tech performance bonus of “Vocation-Oriented Society” should now work as it was intended to. Each new easy Surviving Mars start will begin with a Mystery, scanning queues got increased, and Biorobot gurus can’t create biorobots anymore.
Lastly, we have some visual fixes, like the dome glass that now has proper self-illumination, and meteorite craters, which will now behave and won’t appear next to and over some objects.
