Lag Issue Fixed in PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds received a heft update earlier this week, which implemented a number of changes including first-person perspective servers, rules of conduct and a number of other bug fixes being brought to the game. Despite this, players reported a number of lag issues following the update, which has now also been resolved.

The team behind the game stated the following on Twitter: “We’ve pushed an hotfix to the servers that should fix the issues seen since the update yesterday. Thank you for your patience!” The fix came the day after the release of the patch, despite the developer emphasing that it wouldn’t be easy to fix.

They’ll be glad to have fixed it as quick as they did, given that they recently surpassed 500 million concurrent players on Steam, following last week’s achievement of being the most played non-Valve game on Steam. The game also boasts over half a million current players, peaking at 523,436 players. The only games to beat this impressive record are the Valve games Dota 2 and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, with the closest non-Valve game being H1Z1: King of the Kill, which presents a much lower 141,786 player, which is a testament to how well PlayerUnkown’s Battlegrounds is doing so far.
