There are many highly anticipated titles coming out this year on various systems and PC. But you could argue that the one many fans are waiting on the most is Kingdom Hearts III. The game has been in development for over a decade, and if Square Enix is to be believed, it’s FINALLY coming out this year. Despite that though, we’re only getting breadcrumbs as to the game’s plot and who will be in it and what we’ll be able to do in it. And that trend has continued.
For during a special “meeting” in Japan, a new mini-trailer for Kingdom Hearts III dropped. Now, don’t click on that link expecting a massive “tell all”, for that’s not what it’s about. Instead, it’s showing off some of the mini-games you can play in the game. The team admits that this was inspired by the old-school handheld games you could play in the 80’s, like the Game&Watch. And the games themselves are based on classic Disney cartoons. In one case, you’re teaming up with Mickey to save Minnie.
Other ones have you fighting giants, collecting items, escaping certain areas, and possibly many more. Now, the eagle-eyed fans will note some interesting things about the trailer. One, it start out in the “real world”, but what world exactly isn’t clear. Two, there are character on screen with Sora that you may not recognize. Three, who made these games? And why is Sora playing them? Finally, what will you earn if you beat the mini-games?
All valid questions, and hopefully we’ll get answers on them soon. Fans are also eager to hear more about the worlds of Kingdom Hearts III, and, of course, when the title will release. Many think that E3 2018 will be the landing spot for such announcements, but we’ll just have to wait and see.
