For fans of the Kingdom Hearts series, it’s been a long wait for Kingdom Hearts III. To be fair, Nintendo decided to tell some side stories and advancements stories after Kingdom Hearts II like Birth By Sleep and Dream Drop Distance. But they also did a TON of re-releases, remasters, and more. But now, after so long, they have confirmed that the game has gone gold, and will indeed release on January 29th. And to commemorate this, they have released a brand new trailer.
Square Enix was the one to drop the news about the game and the trailer on Twitter, noting:
“I’m proud to unveil an extended version of the trailer that’s been playing in NA cinemas. And guess what? We’ve wrapped up development of Kingdom Hearts 3!” reads a tweet Square attributed to Director Tetsuya Nomura. “If you haven’t had the chance yet, now would be a good time to prep by playing 1.5+2.5 & 2.8. See you next month!”
The trailer, called “Together” shows a lot of what Kingdom Hearts III will be about in terms of worlds that you can visit. We see Frozen, Tangled, Pirates of the Caribbean: World’s End, Toy Story, Monsters Inc., Olympus, and a lot of other Easter Eggs, including the return of the original Xehanort and Organization XIII.
Also, the trailer confirms that this is the “epic conclusion” to the Sora story, which reiterates what Square Enix said a while back, but then they actually walked back not long after. Making you wonder what is really going to happen to Sora before the game ends.
Now that Kingdom Hearts III is complete, Square Enix is going to put a lot more attention on the Final Fantasy VII Remake titles. That game was being made by Tetsuya Nomura too, and so he’s no doubt relieved that this game is done so he can focus on that one.
