Jurassic World Evolution Has Sold 1 Million Copies
Jurassic Park may not seem like a franchise that’s had a lot of video games…but it has. Like, a whole lot of them, and a vast majority of them were pretty bad. Not unlikely the last movie in the original trilogy. However, with the rebirth of the movies came a desire to do another video game in the series. But, unlike past titles, they decided to give gamers an experience similar to the movies itself. So, they made a simulation game called Jurassic World Evolution.
In it, you would actually run Jurassic World, trying to balance keeping the dinosaurs healthy, happy, and in their cages, while also balancing the need to make money at the park. They even got Jurassic Park/World actor Jeff Goldblum to voice Dr. Ian Malcolm again for short videos. Well, despite not having a lot of momentum, the game has done surprisingly well, as it has sold over 1 million copies.
Whether this is a byproduct of the successful reboot of the franchise, including the most recent move which did very well at the domestic and global box office, or just people wanting to play this kind of game, it sold. And the dev team are thrilled:
“We are really pleased with Jurassic World Evolution and are delighted to have crossed the 1 million unit threshold so quickly,” said Frontier CEO David Braben.
“There is no doubt that initial sales have benefited from the worldwide awareness created by the film release, but it’s the quality of the game that’s really important and I believe our team have done a terrific job in creating a game that a wide range of players are now enjoying around the world”.
So the question now is, “will they try and make another game?” It’s a risk, and you don’t want to tempt fate, but where there’s money to be made, why wouldn’t they?
