We have waited a long time for SoulCalibur VI, and now we know why. It seems like the developers think the franchise is in trouble.
The last game in the series did pretty well. SoulCalibur V received a lot of great reviews, but it seems it didn’t sell all too well. That’s why Motohiro Okubo, the Producer of the game, talked about the future of the SoulCalibur franchise. At Gamescom, the people from DualShockers wanted to know what was going on with SoulCalibur VI, and Motohiro told them. He wasn’t holding anything back and he said that the brand was facing a lot of problems.
The IP of the SoulCalibur franchise wasn’t making anyone exceptionally excited. Quite the contrary, it seems like it took Motohiro quite a lot of time to convince them to make a new game. Now, this spells out the obvious, if SoulCalibur VI doesn’t do well, it will be the last game in the franchise. This is definitely sad news, as the SoulCalibur games are one of the more fun ones in the fighting genre. Fans of this franchise should support the latest game as soon as it comes out.
We don’t get to see entire franchises die out frequently, and we hope it stays that way. SoulCalibur VI is coming soon, so if you’re a fan, buy the game, don’t let this franchise die out.
