Is Marvel’s Avengers A Dead Game Already?
Marvel’s Avengers didn’t make a loud bang or a substantial impact when it launched and now it already looks like a dead game.
A lot of people wanted Marvel’s Avengers to be the go-to action game where we can pick our favorite superhero and go tear enemies a new one. That is what we got, and nothing else. A rather bland, uninspired, and dull game that lacks soul. Would it work if Crystal Dynamics developed it as a solely single-player experience? Yes, I think it would, as the whole game could have focused on the narrative and the characters. As of right now, it’s a sluggish theme park ride with various superheroes, but most of which make you wish you were sleeping while you play them. Strange considering Black Widow, an ordinary human with no superpowers or insane technology, is the most fun character to play.
But, perhaps there’s enough enticing content to keep players engaged? Well, SteamDB says there are about a thousand players playing it right now, so I guess we have our answer. Quite a low number considering the all-time peak was 31,000 about a month ago. Yet, the developers don’t seem too bothered by this. They have a lot of new content coming, like two new heroes (both Hawkeyes), new mission types, a new Outpost, and more as shown in the Kotaku article.
Is Marvel’s Avengers a dead game at the moment? Not quite, but it’s on its last legs. Hopefully the devs’ new content managed to revitalize the title. If you have any thoughts and opinions on the matter, do share them in the comments section down below!
