Is Fallout 76 Easily Hackable?
There are several things that upsets gamers when it comes to multiplayer titles. The first is cheating, on any level, for that creates a gameplay environment that is not only not fair, but frustrating, as they just want to have fun. The other thing that gamers hate is hacking into the game. While it does tie into cheating, hackers can actually go far beyond base cheaters and make the game really unfun. Which is a fear right now with Fallout 76.
Gamers have been playing the beta for Fallout 76 the past few weekends, and while results are mixed as you would expect, the gamers are noticing something in the code. Mainly, they noticed that the game is very easy to mod, which is a good thing. However, they noticed that the game actually doesn’t check to verify the safety of the mod, and thus, it leaves the game very accessible to hackers.
This is very bad if it’s true, and definitely something that needs to be fixed. IGN reached out to Bethesda on the issue, and they replied with the following:
“Many of the claims in the thread are either inaccurate or based on incorrect assumptions. The community has however called to attention several issues that our teams are already actively tracking and planning to roll out fixes for. Our goal is always to deliver a great experience for all our players. Cheating or hacking will not be tolerated. We know our fan base is passionate about modding and customizing their experience in our worlds and it’s something we intend to support down the road.”
This seems a bit non-committal as to what is actually going on. Could it be they’re trying to hide the truth of the matter? Either way, they need to get something going to fix it all before the game launches on November 14th.
