Indygo Set for Release in October, Focuses on Depression

Games touching on real life issues is something that is becoming more of a common trend in recent years. Fat Dog Games’ Indygo is an entity that takes on issues faced with depression, telling the story of a painter who suffers from it.

The narrative game is set in just one room, which happens to be the painter’s workshop. The game’s protagonist hasn’t left the room for over three months, leading to a crippling symptom of isolation. The only thing helping him through this is his girlfriend Anna, though its obvious to both of them that the situation can’t go on any longer. This is where the player comes in.

The game, in a similar fashion to TellTale Games, has multiple endings, which depends on the decisions made during your playthrough. The room’s state changes based on the character’s mental state, so be sure to think about each decision you make.

“All too often depression is not taken seriously or, on the other hand, becomes a stigma.” said Krystian Mucha from Pigmentum Game Studio. “We strive to give the players a deeper insight into the thoughts and actions of those, who are suffering from this mood disorder, which is why we consulted our game with mental health specialists and people who have gone through depression.”

Indygo will release on October 10th, fittingly on World Mental Health Day.
