Back in 2014, Microsoft released Halo: Master Chief Collection to the Xbox One lineup, which was much to the initial delight of many of the franchise’s fans. Said delight was soon dashed when the collection actually released, as the promise of four classic Halo games in 1080p, as well as the Halo 2 remaster, soon fizzled out over a number of bugs and matchmaking issues.
Some of these bugs and issues were fixed back in the year that it released, focusing predominantly on online matchmaking. Despite this, there hasn’t been a patch for the collection since, and what made matters worse was the fact that no 4K updates would be coming to it with the release of the Xbox One X.
However, it now seems that Microsoft has changed their minds on the matter, with developers 343 Industries confirmed that Halo: Master Chief Collection will be patched to fix the issues that it currently suffers from, as well as bringing additional support for Xbox One X including 4K resolution.
It will still be a while off until they do so however, as this “public flighting program” will not roll out until “next Spring”, as stated in a community event recently. Still, it’s promising news to see that they are actually going to commit to fixing the game once and for all.
