In a month full of postponing, Half-Life: Alyx won’t be delayed and it’s arriving on its due date according to Valve.
This year started off with quite a lot of delays. Most developers need more time to polish up their titles before releasing them. The biggest delays include Cyberpunk 2077, Marvel’s Avengers, and the Final Fantasy 7 Remake. These delays usually come with extended crunch work hours. But, amongst these delays Valve appears. Our lord and savior Gabel stated (or his team to be more precise) that Half-Life: Alyx won’t be delayed, according to their Reddit AMA. It’s good to see confidence like this in the industry. Especially since this is the newest entry in a franchise that’s been silent for quite a while now. Not only that, but they’re also hyping this as the flagship VR title. A fully-fledged triple-A release that’s going to revolutionize the way VR titles are made and played.
The Valve team (made up of Kaci Aitchison Boyle, Robin Walker, Jake Rodkin, Jamaal Bradley, Chris Remo, David Feise, Tristan Reidford, Erik Wolpaw, Corey Peters, and Greg Coomer) stated:
“Right now we’re primarily polishing and fixing bugs, which is where we’d hope to be at this point in the development cycle. We’re confident we’ll hit our intended release. (We let the Valve Time happen before we announced the game.)”
Should we expect to see Half-Life: Alyx in March 2020? Well, Valve sounds pretty confident about this release window. Let’s just hope this confidence isn’t followed by a last-second announcement that delays the game right before it’s supposed to be released.
