Michal Andrzej Nowakowski, CD Projekt S.A. said that Half-Life: Alyx isn’t a threat to Cyberpunk 2077 because they’re are targeting different markets.
Different areas of the market
That earnings conference call that CD Projekt RED had touched on a subject that I was wondering ever since Half-Life: Alyx got announced. Is the new Half-Life title a threat to CD Projekt RED’s gritty sci-fi RPG? Well, according to Michal Andrzej Nowakowski, CD Projekt S.A., it’s not. Why? Well, because they are targeting different audiences. Cyberpunk 2077 is a grand RPG that is meant for video game consoles and PCs. Alyx is a VR title, so different types of markets. Michal also said that VR is a “very small niche” of gaming that isn’t big at all at the moment. So, the new Half-Life title won’t affect the sales of Cyberpunk 2077 at all.
However, Alyx is a gigantic move for Valve and for VR
While that all is true, Half-Life: Alyx will be a revolutionary step for Valve. VR technology is, in fact, an extremely niche part of gaming as of right now. But, Alyx will change that. VR headsets are getting cheaper and cheaper, and since Alyx will be a title developed as a full VR experience, a lot of people will want to try it. Let’s then not forget that it’s a Half-Life game. That alone carries incredible weight in the gaming industry.
Half-Life: Alyx isn’t a threat to Cyberpunk 2077, but it is Valve’s latest new title after a bunch of failed experiments. Depending on its success, Alyx may just put Valve back on the top of the food chain of gaming. That being said, everyone is also incredibly hyped up about the new CD Projekt RED game. It’s probably the most anticipated release of the decade. Why not pre-order a Cyberpunk 2077 PC game key on HRK Game right now? It’s even discounted!
