Just how many copies of Destiny 2 have sold has yet to have been revealed by Activision, but what we do know now is that over half of the copies of the highly anticipated sequel have been digital.
This puts a better outlook on the previous statistics that were coming in which were quite worrying for the latest entry in the popular Bungie franchise. It had been previously revealed back in September that Destiny 2 had only sold less than half of Destiny 1, with the former hitting 175,000 in sales compared to the original Destiny’s 417,000.
Even with this statistic, you would have to keep in mind that the first Destiny game released on Xbox 360 and PS3, both of which had a much bigger market for installed disc games, given that this was the more popular option in this generation. Not only that, but with the announcement of the PC version also, a lot of players would have been waiting for the arrival on that particular platform.
So there doesn’t seem to be anything to worry about as far as the health of Destiny 2’s sales are concerned. Its playerbase may have taken a dip, but it obviously still being enjoyed by many, many players, and understandably so.
Destiny 2 is now available on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
