H1Z1 Has Officially Launched, Brings New Mode With It
Just because you’re one of the first to do something doesn’t mean you’re the best at it, and that can cost you more times than naught. Case and point, H1Z1. The zombie-fighting/battle royale-style game launched years ago on Steam Early Access, and at its peak was an incredibly popular title. However, with the arrival of games like PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds and Fortnite, and the fact that it was still on Steam Early Access after years of work, made its number plummet, and many wondered if the game could recover.
Well, H1Z1 has officially launched on Steam in full, and in a big surprise, the game has brought with it an all-new mode called “Auto Royale”, which is actually very unique. For in this mode, there are up to 30 teams of 4, all of which are in a vehicle, and you must find and destroy your opposition until your vehicle is the last one standing.
Furthermore, this mode features special vehicles and items that can only be found within this mode. Including power-ups for the vehicles you use like smoke screens and turbo boosts. You know, the fun stuff.
Outside of that, the launch of H1Z1 brings with it a host of new and updated features. For example, the airdrop system has been refined, and a mini-map has been added for better environment awareness. The game now has Seasons as well, and this first one is meant to get player aggressive, as that’s how they’ll earn the most rewards.
The question now is, “will this help boost players?” Potentially, it could, but there are still questions about the game’s longevity. Fortnite and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds are still dominating the market, and while this new mode of play is cool, it may not be enough to bring H1Z1 back to its former glory. We’ll have to wait and see how it goes.
