Guerrilla Games Talks Horizon Zero Dawn In AMA
There’s a lot of work that goes into a video game, but arguably most important of all is that a TON of content is created for the game, yet not everything makes the cut for one reason or another. Sometimes, it ends up as DLC, and other times, it just doesn’t get put into the game at all. For Sony and the PS4, one of their best titles is Horizon Zero Dawn from Guerrilla Games. This epic title wowed people with its deep story, grand scale battles, massive open world, and more.
It’s hard to think that the game had anything cut from it, but, in a Reddit AMA, the team at Guerrilla Games revealed that there was some cut content that they wished they could’ve kept in:
“This question made me take a walk down memory lane! We had a quest line that had Aloy visit the Oseram territory of the Claim at one point. She was definitely going to shake things up a bit.” said Lead Writer Ben McCaw.
McCaw also noted that one of the best parts about development was Sony giving them the freedom and support they needed to help make Horizon Zero Dawn the game they wanted it to be. For McCaw, it wasn’t just about hte massive beasts or the massive world, he wanted to tell a deep story:
“We wanted it to be personal. We wanted it to be about bonds of love that cross generations, ties that can survive any destructive force. And on a very basic level, we wanted it to be about a woman’s search for her mother.”
Well, their desire paid off, as the game not only has sold 7.6 million copies since it arrived on PS4 last year, but it also won numerous awards from various institutions. You can get the game via physical purchase or from the PlayStation Network.
