Grand Theft Autio V Is Selling Better In Europe Than Many 2017 Games
It’s not uncommon for certain video game titles to have a long selling life. These titles are usually the ones truly connecting with players, or are so epic that everyone will get them when they get the appropriate system to play them on. These game are referred to as “evergreens”, as they are always growing. One title that most definitely has that moniker is Grand Theft Auto V. For despite coming out in 2013, the game is almost always on the best-selling list every month.
But, what might surprise you, even more, is just how well the game has done in Europe in 2017. For according to Gameindustry.biz, the game has sold so well that it’s dwarfing high-profile 2017 games like Destiny 2, Battlefront 2, and Assasin’s Creed Origins. Think about that for a bit. A game that’s basically five years old beat three of the most-anticipated titles of 2017. Now, yes, this only counts physical copies, but that’s still an amazing feat.
In fact, the only games to be Grand Theft Auto V in sales in Europe were FIFA 18 (which makes sense as Europe is the home country of soccer) and Call of Duty: WWII (which was the highest-selling game of 2017 worldwide). So yeah, that’s very impressive.
Grand Theft Auto V was a very big title, it featured a main story with three very unique protagonists. It featured an amazingly large world via Los Santos, and it gave players so much freedom that they couldn’t help but explore every inch of it. It was also because of GTA V that GTA Online became a thing. A thing that to this day is full of people playing it, and very recently got some new DLC via the Doomsday Heist.
Either way you look at it, this is one evergreen that is doing very well, and it doesn’t look to stop anytime soon.
