E3 2017 was a big event this year, and with it came numerous surprises, including the return of franchises fans thought they would never see. One of the biggest shocks came from the Ubisoft press conference where the company revealed that the long-teased and long-desired game Beyond Good & Evil 2 was indeed real, and it was really coming to consoles. Ever since, players have been wanting to know more and more about the game, what it would be like, and how it connects to the original.
That last question was answered at E3, as Beyond Good & Evil 2 is a prequel to the original game. As for what the game would be like, you’re living in a dystopian sci-fi universe, and you are a pirate. To upend the system, you need to get a crew and take to the stars to earn your freedom.
But, at E3, the Ubisoft team did a behind-the-scenes video that they just released which delves even deeper into the game and its mechanics. First up, you can create your own character, and have them look however you want. This is part of the “freedom” the game wants to offer you.
Also a part of your freedom in the game is how you choose to interact with the universe, and what happens as a result. For example, unlike some RPGs were you just “happen” to encounter people on your storyline, Beyond Good & Evil 2 makes it so that you might encounter people based on the missions you take. But be warned, not everyone may like your style, and if they join you, their opinions will be heard, and if they don’t like things you do? They will leave.
Another thing you’ll be looking for is vehicles. You’ll start off small, and you’ll grow depending on what you do and how you do it. The bigger the ship, the bigger the crew you can have.
This game is looking mighty epic, and something tells us it’s only going to get grander once more things are revealed.
