The Witcher franchise has been one that has brought much joy to fans over the years. First and foremost, the main three titles of the franchise are revered as some of the best RPGs ever made, especially the third title, Wild Hunt, which was praised and lauded as RPG bliss. Then, there’s GWENT, the beloved card game which took on a life of its own and became an esports superstar. But many are wondering, could there be a fourth entry? Could The Witcher 4 happen?
Well, those who know the story of Wild Hunt know that the title was meant to be the end of the story for Geralt of Rivera, and so if The Witcher 4 happened, it would have to be with a different lead character. But given the franchises robust story, that might be as hard as some people might think. In fact, the voice actor behind Geralt actually had a suggestion as to who could replace his character.
“If you’re leading into The Witcher 4, I can only say I have no idea, although I think it will be. This is my own opinion, and CD Projekt Red knows what they are doing, and I have no idea what the plan is, but… If I was CD Projekt Red, I would make The Witcher 4, but I would be focusing on Ciri. In The Witcher 3 she hints at visiting other worlds (including Cyberpunk 2077!), and I think a game around her visiting those different worlds would be a cool Witcher 4,” said Doug Cocker to Game Reactor
While the idea of Ciri going to Cyberpunk 2077 is interesting, Wild Hunt proved that there are plenty of areas to visit within Rivera and beyond that could be more than enough story for Ciri. We won’t know if the game is actually being made though until CD Projekt Red admits its existence.
