In-Game Purchases For Star Wars Battlefront II Turned Off

Forget “The Empire Strikes Back”, it’s the fans who have struck back once again at EA. For the past week, fans have rallied together to note all the things that EA is doing wrong in Star Wars: Battlefront II. There have been multiple things called out, from the cost of Hero characters in the game, to the amount of time it would take to collect everything in the game (hint: half a year plus, or $2100), and of course, the big thing, the microtransaction system. This system was so bad that people literally called it gambling.

It got so bad during the last few days, and especially during a Reddit AMA that the team held on Wednesday, that EA has literally given in to the fans requests. For just hours before the game launched, EA made a statement on Twitter that literally turns the game upside down:

Yep, you heard that right, all microtransactions for the game have been turned off. No gambling in Battlefront II! Or at least, not at the moment. So, for this moment, fans should celebrate, because they basically toppled an empire three times in one week! Now, of course, we don’t know what system will replace the current one, and it’s possible the microtransactions could return in a less menacing way, but it’s all a bit unclear.

But for now, you should try and enjoy the release of the game. Issues aside, this is meant to be a true spectacle in the Star Wars universe that spans 3 generations of trilogies. So enjoy it! And see where your path in this universe takes you.
