Frozen Synapse 2 is a sequel to a rather obscure tactical turn-based shooter, Frozen Synapse. The game is finally out, after many delays, and it even has a launch trailer.
Frozen Synapse 2 is a game that is hard to describe, much like the previous title of the same name. The closest thing we can think of is XCOM: Enemy Unknown, but even that doesn’t come close to comparing to this game. This is an immensely complex turn-based shooter with mechanics you’ve never seen before in this genre. Watch the launch trailer or even better, check out some gameplay, it will help you understand how Frozen Synapse 2 works.
Unfortunately, the first game wasn’t really all that popular, which is a shame. These kinds of titles don’t come out often, so their brilliance should be recognized. Frozen Synapse 2 especially shows a lot of potential, as it’s being described as an “open world tactics” game. It combines grand strategy and simultaneous-turn-based combat, and the end result looks rather spectacular. The neon graphics combined with an absolutely stellar soundtrack gives this title a breathtaking atmosphere not seen often in games.
Enter a procedurally generated city, deal with any threats that you encounter, take control, and end up as the victor. We hope that Frozen Synapse 2 gets the attention it deserves, as it’s definitely a quirky and weird game, but with incredibly complex and satisfying gameplay that fans of tactical games are going to adore.
