It’s been quite a while since Friday The 13th: The Game was released now, and its launch was definitely not without issues. There were problems with gameplay from the get-go, which led to a number of negative reviews across all platforms. But perhaps most importantly, there was a lack of single-player content that was supposed to release in the Summer, which never happened.
We have now learned that the single-player aspect will now be released in episodic format. Developers Illfonic have admitted now that the mode has been delayed, and that they will be breaking it up into several different releases that can remain individually independent from the others.
The team stated: “We are breaking it into a number of different experiences that can be released independent of one another. This way as soon as one thing is done we can launch it without having to wait on everything else.”
In a recent forum post, they revealed that they were behind on the release window of Summer, which makes sense given that it is now December. The team has hired new staff in order to bring stability to the multiplayer, which is being considered a priority before switching focus to the new episodic single-player.
