Fortnite Wasn’t On Top Sales Wise In February On PC Or February

Every month is a battlefield in video games, as every title out or coming out fights for sales and revenue wherever they can get it. Since the rise of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds this has only gotten more intense, and when Fortnite decided to make a play for the Battle Royale market and was succeeding in doing so, it got even crazier. In February though, there were some surprises as to what made the most money on consoles and PC in terms of digital revenue.

On the console side of things, Call of Duty: WWII and FIFA 18 both made more money than Fortnite. This is surprising in some ways because of what each game offers in terms of digital content to purchase via microtransactions. Superdata believes that FIFA 18’s Ultimate Team was a big reason for knocking Epic Game’s title down. Call of Duty being there though might not be as big a surprise as recent updates have enticed players to get more stuff from the title.

As for the PC side of things, PlayerUnknown’s Battleground actually beat Fortnite, but not by much. What’s more, both titles were in the middle of the pack in terms of PC revenue. League of Legends, Dungeon Fighter Online, Fantasy Westward Journey II and Crossfire all beat the two Battle Royale titles.

Now, while it is a “loss” to not be on the top of the charts, if you add up what Fortnite did on both PC and console (where PUBG didn’t even rank), you get a massive amount of revenue that dwarfs its rival, and that’s likely not going to change. In fact, when we see the March numbers we expect to see something very similar to this.

All in all, though, it’s going to be very interesting to see how things work itself out. And we’ll let you know how it does.
