Epic Games has announced today that Fortnite will feature cross-play, cross-progression and cross-purchase between Xbox One and PC, as well as iOS and Android when it arrives on those platforms.
Microsoft, according to the official Epic Games website, has been a long-standing advocate of cross-platform play, by connecting players across PC, consoles and mobile. “We’ve been working together with them over the last several months to make this possible, and will bring this functionality to Fortnite players on Xbox right along with other platforms,” the statement on the official site reads.
The information provided reveals that each new platform that is to be supported for the game will bring in more people, therefore giving more players the chance to play with their friends, with the choice to opt-in with cross play.
As far as the mobile platforms are concerned, there is a sign-up taking place tomorrow for the Fortnite Invite Event on iOS. Players who choose to play on phones and tablets will be experiencing the same 100-player game that is available on Xbox One, PS4, PC and Mac, with all of the same gameplay, map, content and updates that come to the previously released platforms.
Fortnite is now available on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
