Fortnite Streamer Ninja Responds To Critics Of His “No Female Gamers” Policy
The other day, legendary Fortnite streamer Ninja answered a question about his streams. Mainly, people have noticed that he’s never had a female gamer/streamer on his feed. He’s had male guests aplenty, including singer Drake, but that’s about it. So why no ladies? He answered simply that he doesn’t want to risk any gossip, lies, or rumors spread about him or his guest based on what happens in the feed. Ninja is married, and he noted that protecting himself and his family from such things is important to him.
However, this being internet, people apparently didn’t really care about his reasoning, and hurled some shade at Ninja (aka Tyler Belvins) for “not wanting to risk it”. So, Ninja took to Twitter to respond to this negative reaction:
“I wanted to take a moment to address the discussion around the article that came out over the weekend. While I understand some people have implied my views mean I have something against playing with women, I want to make clear the issue I’m addressing is online harassment, and my attempt to minimize it from our life. It is something that affects all streamers, especially ones that make their relationships public. I wanted to bring attention to this issue and my comments should not be characterized as anything beyond that.”
And in case you doubted his intentions to be pure:
“Having just celebrated my one year anniversary, my wife and my family will always be the most important thing to me and I am doing my best to protect them.”
But he also reassured fans that while he may not have female gamers or streamers on his feed, he still respects the heck out of them:
“We are fans of all kinds of streamers and gamers — curvyllama, juliatv and halieatisuto are a few of our favorites and we encourage others to check out their channels. I look forward to the opportunity to meet and play with all kinds of Fortnite players in future tournaments and events.”
While the haters are still out there, Ninja’s supporters are praising him for his words and sticking to his beliefs, and in this internet age, that’s refreshing.
