It was only a matter of time before Fortnite got some kind of grappling hook or item. The Getaway Limited Time Mode was also shown at the PAX West Fortnite stream.
Now, while this grappling gun isn’t the same as let’s say the one from Just Cause 3, it does serve its purpose. Fortnite isn’t a very serious battle royale shooter, so naturally, the gun looks quite silly as well. Instead of something like a hook, the gun has a plunger which attaches to something. It’s quite a hilarious weapon, but it does allow you to blitz from one place to another rather quickly. We guess that it’s going to be quite a popular gadget, especially when you consider its usefulness in late game. You can see The Grappler in action here.
As far as the new Limited Time Mode, it also looks like it’s going to be quite different from the stuff we’ve seen so far. According to dotesports, this LTM is all about theft and escape. It’s called Getaway for a reason, as players need to locate a supply drop, then snatch a llama jewel, and finally run away. If you manage to reach a van with the jewel still on you, you’re going to be the winner. All of this seems to be a part of the upcoming High Stakes event, which we don’t know much about.
