This is definitely one headline that we never expected to write, but Netflix lists Fortnite as one of their biggest competitors.
While this may seem odd at first, it does make sense. Watching movies/TV shows and playing games both fall under the category of activities that we do in our free time. So, it actually makes sense that Netflix considers Fortnite to be one of their biggest opponents. But, this is only good news for us, as this means that Netflix will work extremely hard to keep up with Epic Games’ battle royale shooter, so customers can only benefit from this.
When we first read about this, we immediately thought of the new Witcher TV series that’s coming. Maybe they are trying to pull in more gamers to their platform by making a TV series about one of the most beloved RPG franchises of today. Everyone is still skeptic about how that will turn out, but who knows, maybe it ends up being the next TV show phenomenon, especially now that Game of Thrones is ending.
On another note, Fortnite doesn’t seem all that concerned about the competition. At first PUBG was the only game that could compete, but now, we don’t think there’s a game out there that can stand on the same platform that this battle royale shooter stands on.
Maybe that changes in the future, you never know. But for now, Fortnite is a game that just continues to impress with the amount of money that it’s making.
