Fortnite is continuing to grow constantly in popularity, having recently skyrocketed to 20 million unique players, which took over its competitors PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. Therefore, developers Epic Games have published a blog to outline the weaknesses in place and how they intend to put them right, with plans to introduce custom games, tournament support, more items and weapons, and much more.
The team behind the game have acknowledged that there are some issues with the social aspects of Fortnite, and so they are making things a bit easier in terms of finding new friends, such as importing friends from social media or connecting with those who you may have had a fun game with. One thing they did admit to getting wrong is team killing, therefore they will be cracking down on offenders by handing out many more warnings and bans.
Meanwhile, the use of better analytical models will help them to catch the repeat offenders, with the hope that they can pair players with those with a good reputation. This would effectively mean that all of the toxic players would then be put into one pot to play together, which is a practice that we have seen fellow battle royale title PUBG put in place, if evidence from cheaters and griefers is to be believed.
