Fortnite was once again subjected to some downtime this morning, as Epic Games launched a new update to commemorate Valentine’s Day. Update 2.4.2 brings a brand new weapon to the Battle Royale mode, in the form of the Crossbow. This has a couple of advantages, being that it is a stealthy weapon to use, and offers infinite ammunition. Both Rare and Epic versions of the weapon can be found in chests or on the ground, as well as a Valentine’s-themed version also on offer.
Another important change comes to the Shooting Test #1 mode, which is the game’s current limited-time mode. This has now changed from a squad activity to solo, and has changes made to weapons, with sniper rifles being perfectly accurate and shotguns doing further damage from headshots. Epic has stressed that they are aware that stat and challenge progress is not being saved, so be wary when using the mode.
The new Valentine’s Day event for Save the World meanwhile has yet to arrive, which will be coming as part of the 2.5.0 patch. Following that, there will also be a Spring It On event, which Epic has previously teased.
Fortnite is now available on PC, Xbox One and PS4.
