Former Activision Employee Speaks Out On Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Rumors
There’s a saying that “if you want to do something, you do it right the first time.” Meaning, you don’t cut corners, you don’t cheapen things because you can save a few bucks, etc. This is a philosophy that applies to a lot of things, but especially to video games. There’s been a rumor going around that Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be getting a remaster, which would follow in the footsteps of the original Modern Warfare game getting a remaster. However, said rumors also state that the remaster would only feature the singleplayer mode.
This has made a lot of people concerned because part of the fun of the Call of Duty games since Modern Warfare was the multiplayer. And the previous remaster had multiplayer with it, so why not include it here? Well, that’s the thought process of former Infinity Ward and Activision employee Robert Bowling, who noted his displeasure with the rumors on Twitter, stating:
“Modern Warfare 2 Remastered without multiplayer would be like a car without an engine. Doesn’t matter how much I love the car, if I can’t pick up my friends.”
Now, it needs to be stated that the rumors of Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s remaster not having multiplayer are still just that, rumors. In fact, neither Infinity War or Activision have stated that the remaster is even happening at all. So at present, we’re in this weird state of limbo. Hopefully some of this will be cleared up soon, especially with E3 2018 coming around and the full announcement for Call of Duty Black Ops 4 coming soon.
However, it’s hard not to agree with Robert Bowling, for the allure of Call of Duty games nowadays isn’t the story campaign, it’s the multiplayer, and if it doesn’t have multiplayer at launch, that will hurt sales no doubt.
