There are a number of games that have adopted the practice of using microtransactions (specifically loot boxes) as of late, and Rocket League is certainly no stranger to using this method of injecting cash into the game.
Psyonix will be continuing to do so tomorrow when it introduces the first Halloween event for the game since its inception. Running from October 16th through to November 6th, this new event system will change things up slightly. Here, you will be able to earn event-only currency in the form of Candy Corn, which can then be used for certain keys known as Decryptors to unlock Halloween-themed perks. Even though you will get the odd crate drop here and there, you will be mainly relying on racking up as much Candy Corn as you can to purchase Decryptors.
Another key element that will be implemented by Psyonix will be that you won’t be able to trade anything that is gained through the game’s trading systems. Psyonix are doing a good thing here, seeing as this is a seasonal event that can inject interest to those not only who haven’t played the game before, but also attract players who became bored of the initial crate system previously.
