When the Xbox One X launches on November 7th, a number of games will be updated which will see them upscaled to 4K resolution. Final Fantasy XV will be among those that will be upgraded, which was confirmed by director Hajime Tabata at PAX East, whilst discussing the difference between the Xbox One X and PC versions.
The director revealed that the game will support native 4K on PC, whilst the Xbox One X version will initially run natively at 3K resolution, before using checkerboard technology to upscale it to 4K. For those familiar with the PS4 Pro, this is the same solution as the high visual settings on that particular platform.
Meanwhile, the Windows Edition will also support Nvidia Gameworks tech embedded into the Luminous Engine, whilst also support Windows Sonic. This has been a proprietary spatial sound tech for Windows 10, which even offers up support for Dolby Atmos hardware.
Final Fantasy XV is currently set for release on PC in early 2018. As for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions, the game continues to be updated, with a recently released patch and the crossover event with the Ubisoft franchise Assassin’s Creed, so there is certainly plenty to be getting on with for fans of the RPG.
