Final Fantasy VII Remake Now An Action Game?

Final Fantasy VII Remake was truly a victim of its own announcement. For when it was first announced, it was given a very tiny teaser, and then it was given a slightly bigger one, and then the gameplay of the world was shown. But after that? Not much has been revealed outside of concept art. The game has no official release date, and rumors have been flying all around that the game has been shuffled from team to team, and even has gone through its own mini-restart.

All of these reports are making fans wonder when Final Fantasy VII Remake will ever come out, and if/when it does, what it’ll resemble. To that end, Square Enix has put out a job listing that is aiming to enlist a VFX Designer to help out with the game, specifically with the combat aspect of it. Stating that it’s “a position that will carry the core of Final Fantasy VII Remake that is being remade as an action game.”

When the earliest gameplay for the title was shown, it did seem to be more of an action game, not unlike what Final Fantasy XV was when it came out. And in fact, one of the things the team noted early on after the announcement was that the game needed to be upgraded in several ways, which included the battle system.

That being said, there’s no doubt some gamers who are going to want some RPG elements still in the title, whether it be through equipment, Materia, or something else in-depth.

Regardless, none of this is very good if the game doesn’t come out in a reasonable time. And if Square Enix is looking for a VFX designer years after the game was announced, that can’t be a good sign barring it being for remedial things.
