FIFA 18 released recently, and there is a key feature missing that has sparked outrage among fans of the game. In this release, it appears that there is no guest play for Ultimate Team, meaning that players are no longer able to invite friends to play online competitively.
The latest entry in the franchise still allows guest mode for friendly games, but taking it away from FUT takes away from the game’s overall value in the eyes of many, even more so since there was no actually announcement made. The seriousness of the issue certainly isn’t lost on those who have complained, with many stating that they plan to get a refund.
When asked on Twitter whether or not there will be DLC to bring guest mode to FUT, EA responded: “Hey there! We removed guest play from FUT Online Draft Mode and FUT Online Seasons in FIFA 18 on Xbox One, PC, and PlayStation 4 to create competitive balance for all players. Guest Play is still available in Friendly Seasons and Single Online Matches in FUT.”
This response has prompted not only a campaign online to prompt EA to bring the mode back, but has also lead to many players going back to FIFA 17. According to EA, this exclusion was to make gameplay fair for everyone during FUT draft and seasons, though a lot of players won’t agree.
