Would you play a battle royal game that was inspired by the S.T.A.L.K.E.R franchise? If your answer is yes, then you should probably take a look at Fear the Wolves. The game is being developed by Vostok, the people that made the online shooter called Survarium, which is a title that’s still in beta. Having two games in a pre-release state seems like a really bad idea, but who knows, maybe they pull it off. Anyway, Fear the Wolves got a release date for its Early Access, so those of you that want to try the game can do so on July 18th.
This is great news especially when you consider that Vostok Games has people that are S.T.A.L.K.E.R. veterans, and this is a battle royal game, so, does this mean that this is an S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and PUBG hybrid? It kind of looks like it and the idea of that kind of shooter sounds really awesome if they manage to pull it off correctly. The official description of the game goes like this:
Fear the Wolves is a competitive Battle Royale FPS by Vostok Games, bringing S.T.A.L.K.E.R. DNA to the brutal 100-player arena. The game drops players, in squads or as lone wolves, into the oppressive environments of a radiation-ravaged Chernobyl spread across a 25km2 map. The classic Battle Royale mode forces them to fight to be the last man standing out of 100 fighters. while another, to-be-unveiled mode brings an exciting twist to the genre.
The battle royal genre is getting overpopulated, but hopefully, the gaming industry moves away from these games and starts focusing on something else.
