When Ubisoft decided to take their Far Cry franchise out of “exotic” locations and put it right in the middle of Montana of the United States, they knew they needed to do something special. For the team, this meant a couple of things. First, they needed to make sure that the game felt like it was in Montana, and they did that by going to Montana and copying what they saw from pictures they took. The other was making sure that Far Cry 5 had memorable characters and story.
As we revealed previously, one of the hooks with Far Cry 5 is that the game will let you pair up with various characters from a Resistance movement in order to fight a cult called Eden’s Gate. Yet, there is also a character in the game who believes there’s an even greater threat. His name is Crazy Larry Parker, he’s a conspiracy theorist, and he has a very interesting job for you.
As you’ll see in the video above, the guy has you going on a mission to collect some “samples” of some very…uh…unusual things. And by “unusual”, we mean not of this world. Or at least, that’s how we interpret it. The gameplay preview does a good job of showing not just the action gameplay of things, but also how you can get around Montana, as here you get to pilot a helicopter in order to get to a crop circle.
Where the mission will take you after the gameplay video is a mystery for now, but if this is but one mission in the larger Far Cry 5 scheme? We know you’re going to be busy for quite some time. And that’s of course not even including the activities and other adventures you’ll be able to do when the game releases on March 27th.
