Far Cry 5 Has Some Truly Crazy Side Missions
How far do you go to truly try and make a game unique? That’s apparently the question that Dan Hay and the people behind Far Cry 5 asked themselves as they developed the game. For as we’ve noted in the past, the team has done many things to ensure the title has not only a truly majestic and accurate Montana setting, but also, to have plenty of activities for you to do. But, we don’t think that anyone is prepared for the activity that is called Testy Festy.
For in this…uh…unique sidequest, you are tasked with getting items for a festival. Sounds harmless, right? Except, that the “items” you’re collecting are the private parts of male cows. Yeah. And for Dan Hay, as he noted to GamesRadar, this is exactly what you can expect in Far Cry 5.
“It’s exactly what you imagine. The game is so big, and we want to make it so that you have a whole bunch of different experiences,” he says. “So that one minute you have something that’s poignant, and the next minute you have something that’s crazy, and that it’s always surprising.”
Hay has said in previous interviews that though there is a “main path” in the game, you’re encouraged to go off of it as much as you want. This will lead to more “unique” experiences that’ll likely help you enjoy the game even more. To him, he feels this way of development is like a song, except, instead of being forced to listen to a song, you get to pick what you want:
“With this game, we said ‘No – just provide unique notes and rests, and let the player choose what it is they’re going to do.’ It’s not prescriptive, it’s just about opportunities.”
You’ll get to experience the game for yourself when Far Cry 5 releases on March 27th.
