Far Cry 5 is aiming to be very different from all the other games in the Far Cry franchise. The setting, the one, the story, it’s all very rural, which is appropriate since it’s set in Montana. However, one of the biggest differences is that you’re going to have the option of tons of allies at your side to fight the cult known as Eden’s Gate. But, unlike previous games, not all of them are trained fighters, they’re just good people (mostly) who want to do good by freeing their town.
Ubisoft has been slowly revealing your allies one by one, and now, we have a full-on video that shows them all off in one go. It shows off Nick Rye, Jess Black, Hurk Drubman Jr., Adelaide Drubman, Sharky Boshaw, Grace Armstrong, and the dog known as Boomer, gives them their backstories (yes, even the dog’s), and reveals what makes them special in the field of combat.
This video is actually rather important, for Far Cry 5 is priding itself on the different ways you can take down enemies in missions. And beings as all of these people have different styles of play, knowing their abilities will help guide you on who to select in the mission you’re on.
For example, if you want to go the silent but deadly route, you’ll likely want to pick Jess or Grace, who are hunters (one with a bow and one with a sniper rifle). But, if you’d rather go loud, then Hurk or Sharky is likely your partner. Then again, you can’t go wrong with a dog, we’re just saying.
But, of course, you’re free to try them all out when you get the game. See how they play, how their AI works, and then pick your own favorite through experience.
Far Cry 5 arrives on March 27th.
