Far Cry 5 Team Wants Game To Truly “Feel” Like Montana
When Ubisoft set out to make Far Cry 5, they wanted to make sure that this game felt truly different from other Far Cry titles. Since the game was set in Montana, specifically in a new area called “Hope County”, they wanted to make sure that it truly looked like the state. And so they went to Montana, took pictures, and recreated it. But, as gamers will note, just because a game looks good doesn’t mean it’s full of life and adventure. Ubisoft agrees with that notion.
For Ubisoft, after they got done modeling everything, they got to work on filling Hope County with not just people and plot elements, but activities that would feel as though they “make sense in Montana.”
Far Cry 5 Lead Programmer Raphael Parent told USGamer, “We wanted out activities to really feel like they belonged.”
But what does that mean exactly? Well, being that Montana is both rural and domestic, it means you can expect big things and little things. City things and country things, and of course, collisions of the two, like bears ransacking a house.
Fan of the hunting mechanic of the series will feel right at home here. For Far Cry 5 ups the hunting game to a new level, giving players lots of options on what to hunt, and what to hunt with. For those looking for very special game, you’ll be happy to hear that you can hunt wolverines and turkeys in Hope County. Just be careful, they’re vicious creatures.
Or, if you’re looking for a more relaxed activity, there’s always fishing. Ubisoft actually wanted to make sure that not only was fishing in the game but that it felt like more than a mini-game. Thus, there are numerous lures to use, places to fish at, and the biggest of catches will require both planning to get them on the hook, and skill to pull them out.
You can experience it all when the game launches on March 27th.
