Far Cry 5 Gets Dark Story Trailer
The Far Cry series hasn’t always been known for its story. Most times it’s known for its over-the-top action, or massive set pieces. But, a few games have stood out in the story department. Far Cry 3 was one, and Far Cry 5 is setting up to be a truly deep and haunting tale of what happens when faith leads to madness and war. A new story trailer has arrived for the game, and if you watch it, you’ll see there’s a lot going on in this game.
First and foremost, we get a better look and understanding of Father Joseph Seed, the leader of the Eden’s Gate cult. While his words start out as very basic for a preacher, it soon turns very dark. As we see the horrors that he allows his fathers to partake in all in the name of his “safety” and “grace”. He’s apparently even brainwashed his daughter into thinking that they’re trying to bring a new heaven to Earth.
It’s very strong imagery, but that also works to the trailer’s advantage, for through that imagery comes the rise of the Resistance, a group of people from Hope County, Montana who are tired of the cult taking who and what they want. They’re going to rise up to stop them, and they want your help to do so.
And that’s the crux of Far Cry 5, the Eden’s Gate cult has to be stopped, and you’ll have to lead the people to make it stop. The question is, how will you do it? Ubisoft has made the game in such a way that you can truly choose how things go for you. Will you do hit-and-run tactics to cripple the cult? Will you go after prominent members? Will you try and take out Seed and cut off the head of the snake?
Or, will you find a different path altogether? Guess we’ll find out when Far Cry 5 arrives on March 27th.
