When it comes to sequels in games, you often know a little of what to expect, but other times you have to wait and see just how much the title has evolved since the last entry. For the Far Cry series, the main games have often been about growth and escalation in regards to story and setting. But, there’s also been interesting offshoots like Blood Dragon and Primal which had very different tones. With Far Cry 5, Ubisoft has not been shy about telling potential players and reviewers what they can expect.
In fact, Ubisoft has been very good about showing off demos to players and reviewers, so much so that Nerd Reactor decided to compile together a video showing off a little new footage as well as reminding you what you can expect in Far Cry 5 from both the story level and the setting standpoint.
For starters, the plot of the game is thus. You are a deputy in Montana, specifically called to Hope County to try and stop the rise of a cult that may be bringing about the end of the world in a certain way. They’re called Eden’s Gate, and they’re headed up by Father Joseph. Your job is to take him out, but, his cult is everywhere it seems like, and so you’ll need to get help from the local Resistance movement to take them down. It won’t be easy, but if you’re good, you’ll be able to cut the head of the snake.
The other big thing about Far Cry 5 is the terrain and environment. Ubisoft went to painstaking lengths to try and make sure the game perfectly mimicked what Montana had to offer. What’s more, they fill this land with activities and sidequests to try and make it full of life in every way possible.
So now that you know, you’ll be ready for when the game releases March 27th, 2017.
