Since the announcement of The Evil Within 2, we have learned quite a lot about the upcoming sequel. And that is certainly what it is, in terms of it being a direct sequel to the previous game, as we continue the story of returning protagonist Sebastian Castellanos, who is back in search of his daughter Lily, having previously assuming she was dead.
What we also know is that The Evil Within 2 is a much more expansive experience compared to the previous outing, which had a more linear focus to it. We’ve also heard from recent interviews from producer Shinji Mikami that this game’s development period was actually shorter than the last game, but this is apparently a common occurrence: “It always takes more time to make the first game in a series, compared to subsequent games.”
When asked what it was like having to deal with a shorter development cycle, Mikami stated: “The last game was completely linear, and this time was more open feeling, which for a horror game was quite a challenge to create.”
Fans shouldn’t have to wait much longer for The Evil Within 2, with the release coming in just a few weeks on the quite apt date of Friday October 13th, 2017. The sequel will be available on Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
