Yes, Epic Games have done it again, they have secured Dauntless as their PC exclusive game.
Dauntless, the game that is pretty much the free-to-play equivalent of Monster Hunter: World, will be exclusively available on the Epic Games Store, at least on the PC. Of course, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 players will be able to download and play the game. But, if you’re on the PC, you have to download it from the Epic Games Store.
Epic Games really are on the offensive with taking titles as exclusives for their own digital distribution platform. We’ve seen it with The Division 2, and with Metro Exodus as well. These people still don’t realize that this is just forcing players to buy from one platform, and that isn’t customer-friendly at all.
The current patcher is still how you’re going to log into the game. But, later down the line, your Dauntless accounts will be transformed into Epic Games accounts. Once that happens you’re going to download and log into the game through the Epic Games store app. Also, those of you that have an Epic Games account and a Dauntless one, you can simply merge them.
If you aren’t familiar with the title, Dauntless is an action RPG in which you take down these powerful beasts called the Behemoths. Quite a fun title, and it holds a lot of potential, so we can understand why Epic Games wanted to secure the game for their own platform.
