EA and Respawn Promise More Titanfall Content Coming This Year
The Titanfall franchise is a bit of an oddity when you look at it from beyond it just being a game. The first title was meant to be a totally unique experience, mainly because it was a solely multiplayer experience focusing on the shifting gameplay between human soldiers and the massive mechs that they use in combat called Titans. It was rough, and didn’t always have the best content, but it worked. The second title amped everything up, added a deep story, and refined the multiplayer.
It had a spinoff in Titanfall Assault, and another game in the line got canceled, and that was it. And then, yesterday, a Battle Royale game set in the universe was released in the form of Apex Legends. As mentioned, it’s a Battle Royale game like PUBG and Fortnite, but it’s different in its own ways. However, it didn’t use Titans despite being in a universe that has them.
This has left many wondering what’s going on with the franchise and when the next true game will come out. Well, we now seemingly have answers from both EA and Respawn. During a financial meeting, EA teased what’s coming:
“Looking forward, we’re delighted to launch Anthem, our new IP, to grow Apex Legends and related Titanfall experiences, to deliver new Plants vs. Zombies and Need for Speed titles, and to add Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order to our sports titles in the fall,”
Then, the head of Respawn took to Twitter to say:
Tons of things planned for @PlayApex in the future. We are also committed to listening to player feedback.
We are also working on more Titanfall for later in the year (yes, I said the T word). We love being able to experiment in this crazy universe!
So it looks like it is coming, but when we’ll see it is up in the air.
