Dragon Ball FighterZ was one of the biggest hits of last year, and given all the competition that it had, that’s some high praise. The game not only looked like a Dragon Ball anime, but it also embraced the heritage of the series in the best way possible through its character selection in both the main roster and the DLC fighters. And now, that looks to continue. For during a FighterZ tournament, the trailer for the second season was dropped.
Six characters are coming to Dragon Ball FighterZ with this season. The first is the long-rumored Jiren from Dragon Ball Super. He is a fighter from another dimension who at first seemed to be the Goku of his universe. But it was revealed that he was much darker than Goku due to past tragedies. Jiren was the ultimate rival of Goku in the Tournament of Power arc, so bringing him here is fitting.
The next entrant is actually a really big surprise, as it’s none other than Videl, the daughter of Hercule Satan and the wife of Gohan. Videl was an interesting character in the Majin Buu arc, and here, she not only holds her own, she brings in…SAIYAMAN!!! …yeah, they went there. If you don’t know, Saiyaman was Gohan’s superhero “alter ego” during the early stages of the Majin Buu arc. Needless to say…it was silly, and not a hit with fans. But, having the two together like this in FighterZ is honestly kind of cool.
It seemed as though that would be all the teases we’d get…until two of the character slots shattered and it was revealed that Broly and Gogeta from the recent Dragon Ball Super: Broly movie were coming to the game! While gameplay of them wasn’t shown, you can expect big and powerful movesets from the two.
All these characters will be coming out early this year, with Jiren and Videl coming out on the 31st!
