There’s more of a divide between console gaming and PC gaming than people think. It goes beyond brand loyalty, and goes into what games work best on those systems. While both can do shooters, RPGs, racing games, and more about the same, others aren’t so balanced. RTS games have widely been considered a PC specialty. On the flip side, fighting games are considered to be more of a console specialty because of the robust control schemes. Yet, Dragon Ball FighterZ seems to be breaking that mold.
The highly anticipated fighting game released yesterday on Xbox One, PS4 and PC, and some players have already taken notice of how well it’s doing on Steam. Primarily, they took a screenshot of the Steam Stats and found out that (at the time it was taken) 44,000+ people were playing the game concurrently. It may not seem it, but that’s actually a pretty big number for a fighting game.
Case and point, the player who noted this detailed the peak concurrent players of other fighting games on Steam. Tekken 7 only had 17.8k concurrent people at its peak. Street Fighter V 13.8k. Mortal Kombat X was 13.6k, and the rest only drop more from there. Proving that what Dragon Ball FighterZ is doing on PC via Steam is truly something special.
So, the question is, why is the game doing so well when other fighting games don’t? Well, it honestly might have something to do with the control scheme. The game is deep, but it only has a few key controls that you need to know. This is in contrast to games like Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter which require precision and perfect button pushing in order to do special moves. Simplified controls go a long way for PC players.
Regardless of the reason though, it’s good to know that the game is doing very well.
