Doom Eternal will have a lot of killing, nasty demons, insane weapons, and absolutely no microtransactions.
Doom Eternal, a game in which you spend your time slaughtering demons and escaping the clutches of death. Will a title like this feature microtransactions? Apparently not. Excellent news which Hugo Martin, the creative director of the game shared with us on Facebook. Unfortunately, in this day and age, even $60 games feature microtransactions or an in-game shop where you can buy cosmetics with real money. Thankfully, Doom Eternal is staying away from microtransactions of any kind. There are cosmetics in the game. In order to acquire them, players need to spend XP. Yes, you’re rewarded for playing the game with cosmetics. That’s something that is no longer standard in the games industry.
It’s so unusual that video game journalist are reporting this as news. This should be expected of a $60 game. Hugo himself said that. Doom Eternal isn’t a free-to-play title or a mobile game. Players should have access to everything that comes in the game without having to pay extra. It’s good to see id Software sticking to this ideology. Since most developers these days find ways to monetize everything no matter how much their game costs.
