Fans of DOOM just wanted to get more demons, more weapons, and more brutality from Doom Eternal. QuakeCon gave us just that, a glimpse into the sequel which looks absolutely terrific.
From the sinister new enemies, stronger and faster Doom Guy, and even more ridiculous weapons, the sequel has it all. Most DOOM fans just wanted more of the same from the sequel, but Doom Eternal is giving us that and more fun gimmicks.
Doom guy, also known as Doom Slayer, has been beefed up to battle the invasion of Hell on Earth. We have a chainsaw sword on our hand, a flamethrower, the ability to dash and climb walls, and more. What’s more, these additions to our armor would slow us down normally, but from the stream, we see that the Doom Slayer is as fast as ever.
The enemies also look terrifying as ever, and there are some old foes that we will be facing. Of course, there are new demons to fight, and the Glory Kills shown are as brutal as one would expect. Punch a head off, rip something in half, those types of things are typical for a Doom game, and we love it.
There are baddies shown that we can’t wait to face, especially the guy you see up there. There is a destruction system at play as well. You don’t have to perform a Glory Kill on every enemy, you can simply chip away at them and see how your gun takes them apart one bullet at a time.
Finally, we are most excited about the part where we get to invade other players’ games. The system looks like something out of a Dark Souls game, and the invading players control demons and try to take down the Doom Slayer.
